MEET THE CHEF - Katie Dong

Chef/executive manager of Strings Ramen, Katie Dong cooks and creates exceptionally satisfying cultural ramen and dishes. Growing up in Chicago, Katie was exposed to pan-Asian cuisines at a very young age. Some of her earliest culinary experiences dated back when she was fifteen helping out at the kitchen of a family restaurant.  It was also that time when Katie realized her interests in cooking and a passion for restaurant management.  

At age 23, Katie independently managed her first restaurant. It was there that she gained the skills, experience, and confidence she needed to advance to a professional restaurateur.

Katie has over 15 years of experience in restaurant hospitality business. Under her outstanding management, Strings Ramen has continuously ranked the top 3 ramen restaurants in Chicago and top 15 in America by Thrillist, Chicago Eater, Timeout, Chicago reader and Chicago’s best by WGN.  Her current project is to assist and oversee Strings’ expansion from a single ownership restaurant to multiple franchise locations.
